2009 was the turn of Wales to lead the liturgy at the HCPT Lourdes Pilgrimage Trust Mass and at other services during the Easter week, a privilege not had for over 20 years. Paul Elliott, (Musical Director for the event) invited musicians and singers to join the specially created HCPT group 737. Those called to share in the experience from All Saints Parish included musicians and singers from Saint David's and Saint Mary's folk choirs, music students and staff from Saint Joseph's High School, as well as other musicans, singers and supporters from around Wales.
The theme of the Liturgy was "We Are One".

In true Welsh fashion we arrived at Lourdes to grey skies and RAIN.

Luckily the Easter Bunny made special deliveries to the Sante Rose Hotel.
(Thank you Sarah!x!)

So with spirits undampened we set off to explore led by intrepid leader Matt Collins (HCPT Regional Chair, Wales & Hereford).

Saint Bernadette of Lourdes

R&R included limbering
up the fingers.
Well done Sue!

As well as the voices. Where's the hat, Pat?

If you have any other or better photos (especially of the group performing), sound tracks, information, events I've missed, anecdotes or comments you would like to share and see included on this page please contact

Easter Sunday Mass
was held in Saint Bernadette's Basillica.
Note the Welsh harp that accompanied us, complete with dragon hat
(Yes they were compulsory uniform!!).
For many of us in Group 737 this was our first HCPT Mass,
an experience never to be forgotten.

Eventually the sun came out!

Open Air Mass on the Meadow,
the extreme beauty of God's world filling our senses,
the atmosphere, the surroudings, the scenery.

Our exploring led us to historic places from the life of Saint Bernadette,
including her home at the Boly Mill and her Parish Church.

Also an opportunity to meet other HCPTers from around the globe!

The Tuesday HCPT Torchlight Procession was an extremely moving experience,
(due in part to the estimated 20,000 participants!)

W stands for Wednesday and Wales:
Welsh Regional Mass and Lourdes is awash with RED!

(And a few dragons too!)

THURSDAY
the main event:
HCPT Trust Mass
in the Basilica of Saint Pius X
known as the
Underground Basilica.
